Shia LaBeouf Got Arrested For Assault And Harassment Outside His NYC Protest

(CNN) Actor and performance artist Shia LaBeouf has been charged with misdemeanor assault and a harassment violation after getting in a scuffle during a rally against Donald Trump early Thursday morning, according to New York Police Department spokesman Sgt. Thomas Antonetti. LaBeouf was arrested and has been released, according to Det. Christopher Pisano. LaBeouf and a 25-year-old anti-Trump protester got into a verbal exchange in front of the Museum of the Moving Image, and then police say LaBeouf pulled on the man’s scarf, scratching his face while doing so, according to Antonetti.

Classic Shia. If you don’t think this is what Shia wanted all along then you haven’t been paying attention. Shia went into that protest knowing he was gonna get arrested. Kinda like how The Joker wanted to get locked up in The Dark Knight but I doubt Shia has thought anything past getting arrested. He’s now just sitting in jail making headlines which is probably what he wanted. It feels weird to say but Shia is quickly becoming one of the more interesting celebrities. Lots of people (myself included) have called him an asshole and a weirdo for some of the stunts he’s pulled but there’s always this underlying current that he’s a pretty damn good actor. That’s the one things that make him an interesting guy as opposed to just some weird famous person who everyone hates. The fact that he has actual talent AND does weird “art” things makes him pretty interesting. And he’s Louis Stevens so me and my childhood are forever indebted to him for the laughs he provided. Some people might say this arrest is a setback for the 2017 Shia LaBeouf Redemption Tour. I strongly disagree. This is a step in the right direction.

PS- The whole “he will not divide us” thing is gonna quickly spiral into a cult. I can feel it. I think it already has actually. People chanting the same thing over and over and over again will always be super creepy.
